According to PPM, part of this house was originally brought to light in the 1780’s, when the nearby Via dei Teatri was excavated, but the excavation of around 1840-41 was completed between 1881-1883.

According to Boyce, in the north wall of the atrium, to the right of the entrance doorway from the street, is a recess.
A square masonry altar stands more-or-less in the centre of the recess.
On the top of the altar on its upper surface is a large rectangular depression.
According to Fiorelli, on the right of the tuscanic atrium was a sacrarium, three cubicula and an ala.
